Dave Dravecky

Dave Dravecky pitched seven years in Major League Baseball, playing as an All-Star and in two pennant races. In 1988, doctors diagnosed him with cancer, leading to the removal of half of the deltoid muscle in his pitching arm. Defying all odds, Dave came back to pitch a winning game for the San Francisco Giants, but the return of the cancer in 1989 resulted in the amputation of his pitching arm and shoulder. Dave is in great demand as a motivational speaker and he has written several books including Comeback, Called Up: Stories of Life and Faith from the Great Game of Baseball, and The Worth of a Man. He and his wife Jan founded the nonprofit organization Endurance to help others endure the journey through cancer. Dave resides in Colorado with his wife, and he especially loves being a grandpa.
